Established in 2014 to support the Project on International Peace & Security (PIPS) at the College of William & Mary, the Military Fellowship pairs military personnel with PIPS' undergraduate Research Fellows. Selected military fellows serve for one academic year and mentor undergraduate fellows to conduct policy-relevant work in the area of international security.
Location in the Williamsburg, VA area is not required. However, military members living in the greater Norfolk-Washington, DC area are preferred to allow for in-person interaction with students a few times during the year.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Mentor one or more undergraduate fellows throughout the academic year
- Support the development of policy projects, provide content and editorial support on policy proposals, and assist with the publication of the resultant white paper – initially will take place on the W&M Jefferson Forum (a school-created Google Group)
- In-person visits w/ undergraduate fellows at William & Mary or in the Norfolk/DC area
The estimated workload for a military fellow includes:
- Fall Semester: 1 hour per week
- Spring Semester: 1-2 hours per week
Military fellows are selected each September, with applications being due here by 1 September of each year.
