4th Quarter 2021 Journal Call for Papers

Sir Michael Howard wrote that the "roots of victory and defeat often have to be sought far from the battlefield." Provide a tailored thesis-driven argument exploring that thought using historical case studies, political theory, or other avenues of inquiry. This quarter’s series seeks compelling arguments to advance the conversation in the realms of strategy, national security, and military affairs.

POSSIBLE TOPICS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Climate change 

  • Women, peace, and security

  • Human rights, peacekeeping, and/or peacemaking

  • Globalization, economic inequality, economic diplomacy, finance, and/or developmental economics

  • Education, infrastructure, and/or human capital development

  • Democratic backsliding

  • Disputed Territory and unfinished conflicts

  • Changing dynamics of space or cyberspace security

  • New insights on great power competition

  • Regional policy to Africa, South Asia, the Americas, etc.

  • Emerging flashpoints: the Arctic, South China Sea, Iran, Low Earth Orbit, etc.


PARAMETERS

  • Concisely written articles up to 2000 words

  • Deadline: 27 September

  • Selected Submissions will be published in November

  • Submissions that do not conform to the submission guidelines will be rejected

  • The use of the template in the submission guidelines is highly recommended

  • We suggest scoping your topic narrowly enough to develop it in a meaningful way
