Following the overwhelming response to our 1st quarterly series for 2021 on the next National Security Strategy, The Strategy Bridge is shifting gears. Our 2nd quarter series for 2021 is all about assumptions in policy, strategy, and military strategy. What problematic or powerful assumption(s) should The Strategy Bridge readers contemplate and why?

POSSIBLE ASSUMPTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Historical assumptions that shape future strategy
Dangerous assumptions that, left unquestioned, present roadblocks to successful policy
Pre-war assumptions that could be corrected in time, and ones that could not
Deeply held assumptions that have affected war, warfare, or national strategy
What unexamined societal assumptions impact the development of successful strategy?
Is great power competition inevitable? Great power conflict?
Will space remain off-limits for military action?
Is the international order truly unipolar? What best describes it? What comes next?

PARAMETERS

Set yourself up for success by ensuring your thesis statement explicitly answers the prompt and appears at the end of your 1st paragraph. Ensure your conclusion restates your thesis, and summarizes your main points.
